Chattanooga Parking Authority

Welcome to your home to all things parking in Chattanooga.  This web site is owned by the Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) who is the parent organization of the Chattanooga Parking Authority for the City of Chattanooga.

The Chattanooga Parking Authority is responsible for operations of more than 4,300 parking spaces in various locations in the immediate proximity of downtown Chattanooga. This includes purchase and maintenance of all equipment, staffing and cash collection activities. This total includes:

    2,100+ on-street metered spaces
    1,300+ spaces in three parking garages
    900+ spaces in surface parking lots.

Additionally there are more than 15,750 spaces in other privately owned garages and lots in downtown Chattanooga.

CPA contracts with Republic Parking of Chattanooga to manage and maintain the parking garages, surface lots and on-street metered spaces and equipment. Revenue generated from these public parking spaces helps CARTA operate and maintain the free downtown electric shuttle system and maintain and the CARTA managed parking resources.


The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority is not just transportation! CARTA also deals with many aspects of the downtown parking industry and provides convenient public parking with easy access to the Downtown Shuttle and North Shore Shuttle system connecting attractions, hotels, the convention center, restaurants, shops and employment sites in Downtown Chattanooga and the North Shore.  CARTA collects and maintains all of the single head meters throughout downtown. There are presently over 2,100 on-street metered spaces in downtown Chattanooga.
